Parish School of Religion (PSR)
St. Alban Roe Parish is committed to offering a strong religious education program for all parish families. The primary focus of the St. Alban Roe Parish School of Religion Program is to assist parents in their role as the primary religious educators of their children by providing religious education and formation classes for children of the parish who attend area public schools.
Our goal is for the St. Alban Roe PSR community to be rooted in faith, growing in grace, community and service. Our PSR program offers classes for children in first through eighth grade and prepares the children to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist in second grade and Confirmation in eighth grade. Our sacramental programs are two-year programs. Second graders must have completed First Grade religious instruction to be admitted into Grade 2 and the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist and Eighth graders must have completed Seventh Grade religious instruction to be admitted into Grade 8.
Registration for the 2024-2025 school year of Parish School of Religion (PSR) is open for 2024/2025 school year. Classes will be in person and start August 26th & 27th!

Community
The students participate in many different activities throughout the year. This will include service projects, food drives, multigrade community building activities, prayer services such as May Crowning, Thanksgiving Mass, Living Rosary, etc. These activities give the students an opportunity to form a family like atmosphere. Christ taught his disciples through the security of a friendship. The PSR community is a place of love and security. Sessions
The sessions last an hour and fifteen minutes. During each session the students have experience with different prayer forms, learn about different devotions and feast days of the saints and discuss the topics needed for each grade level. The PSR Program is compliant with all the requirements of the Archdiocese of St. Louis such as providing Safe Touch, ACRE testing, etc. The catechists also meet with the parents at a conference. Classes meet Monday nights from 5:00PM - 6:15PM - Grades 1-8 in the Parish Life Center or Tuesday nights from 6:00PM - 7:15PM - Grades 1-8 in the Parish Life Center. Contact Information

Formation
With the exception of the second grade, all PSR classes use the Loyola Press "Christ Our Life" curriculum. This program teaches children that each of our lives is centered on Jesus. The curriculum and the catechists will guide your children to know, proclaim, witness and share the Catholic Faith. Each lesson integrates Scripture, Catholic doctrine and Tradition, and the Church's social teachings. The second grade uses the Dynamic Catholic "Blessed" program. This program is a two-part series: First Reconciliation and First Communion. With the use of a kid-friendly workbook and a DVD set, this program uses a very personal, relevant, and intriguing approach to teaching the children what they need to know to prepare and receive these two important sacraments.
