Cub Scouts
Cub Scout Pack 888 is an active, family-oriented group with 30+ Scouts that welcomes all youth grades K-5 regardless of where your child attends school. Pack meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at the St. Alban Roe School Cafeteria (Fall/Winter months) or St. Alban Roe Outdoor Pavilion (Spring/Summer months) from 6-7:30 PM. Most grade-level dens meet at least once a month to work on rank-level adventures towards advancement. Aside from attending council and district activities, Pack 888 hosts a variety of indoor and outdoor activities including:
As Cub Scouts, our young Scouts have a unique opportunity to explore their faith through age-appropriate rank adventures that emphasize their Duty to God. These adventures encourage Scouts to be faithful in their religious duties and respect the convictions of others in matters of custom and religion. With the help and support of our local Knights of Columbus Council and the Archdiocese of St. Louis, our Scouts have the opportunity to grow stronger in their faith through two religious emblem programs – Light of Christ for grades 1-3 and Parvuli Dei for grades 4-5. Scouts that complete these programs are awarded and recognized for their contributions at the 9:30 AM Mass celebrated on Scout Sunday (the Sunday that falls before February 8, or Scouting Anniversary Day). Our group of volunteer adult leaders work hard to plan a program where we instill the core values of the Scouting program to our boys and girls in a way that is both exciting and fun that no other organization can provide. We strive to teach our Scouts life skills, provide them with opportunities for new life experiences, grow appreciation for the outdoors, gain reverence towards God, respect for themselves and towards others, and to prepare them for crossing over to Scouts BSA to continue the journey. Having fun and building excitement are important keys to ensure our Scouts continue to come back year after year so that they grow personally and as a community.
