We know that you like to clean out their binders so to keep them organized, but please let us do that. We have students already that don't have the papers they need because it was thrown away. Even if you see something in their binder that has been in there for weeks, we are still using it. When we clean out the binder, we will send home the papers in the Friday Folder to let you decide what you want to do with it.
Reading - This Unit we will be reading stories on Citizens and Expressing your self. We will have a reading test every other Wednesday.

Math - Addition Chapter 2 and Subtraction Chapter 3. Please go over subtraction and addition facts. Don't forget to get the blue card signed!
Daily we are doing a 6 min timing on subtraction for a couple weeks. Please look on Fast Direct for updates on the timed testing. They can practice their facts by flash cards or games that are on this web site. Also on this web site you will see a link that you can print your own problems to practice.
Please don't forget to sign your student's math card if he or she practiced 10 min or more daily. If they have the whole week signed they will receive an extra 10 points.
English - Verbs
Science - Our focus for this semester is living things. Next week they will participate in an experiment in which they will witness how the root system is a transportation system for the plant.
Besides learning about living things, they will also learn how to use their subheadings in their text book to look up information that they will need for a study guide. Also, they will learn how to use their study guide to study for a test.
Social Studies –Communities
Spelling and Vocabulary – The students are using the Vocabulary Workshop as a spelling book and vocabulary book. We will spend 2 weeks on a unit.
